Commitment
A Collective (SW London) CIC is committed to ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone who engages with our work including staff, volunteers, participants, partners, contractors and visitors.
We aim to provide safe, respectful, and accessible environments across all our activities, whether delivered in person, online, or in partnership settings.
For us, health and safety is not just compliance with law; it is a collective responsibility rooted in our values. This policy supports our wider commitments to safeguarding, diversity and inclusion and equality.
This policy has been developed with reference to relevant UK legislation, including but not limited to:
- Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002
Responsibilities
Our co-directors hold overall responsibility for health and safety and for ensuring that it is embedded within A Collective’s strategy, planning and day-to-day decision-making.
They ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place to identify and manage risk, that this policy is implemented and reviewed, and that health and safety considerations are integrated into how we plan and deliver our work.
All staff and volunteers are expected to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others, to follow guidance provided, and to report hazards, incidents or concerns promptly.
Health and safety is understood as a shared responsibility.
Risk Management
We carry out risk assessments appropriate to our activities, venues, and ways of working, and review these regularly or when circumstances change. Where risks are identified, we take proportionate steps to reduce or manage them.
Incidents and Concerns
Accidents, incidents, and near-misses are recorded and reviewed so that learning can inform safer practice. Serious incidents are reported in line with legal requirements and learning shared with the team.
Concerns or incidents, whether they occur in a physical or digital space, can be reported to any staff member or our co-directors if you prefer.
